May 1, Friday

Opening of the international May alpiniad 2009 in the Ala-Archa ravine. Alpiniad has been taking place since 1952 with the purpose of popularization of alpinism, rock climbing, ice climbing, and increasing sport qualification of alpinists and tourists of extreme sports. In the framework of alpiniad, a mass climbing to the Komsomolez peak, sport and training climbing to the peaks in Ala-Archa ravine, training sessions in rock climbing of the combined team of the Kyrgyz Republic, sport climbing to the Dugoba ravine will be held. The alpiniad will take place till the 10th of May.

 

May 5, Tuesday

In the Bishkek Arts Center photo exhibition “Lost for the Future” of Daniel Massely is open. Photographic works of Kyrgyzstan’s architecture are presented. The exposition will last until May 20.

May 6, Wednesday

The “Victory” exposition of painting works, which is timed to the Victory Day, will be opened in the memorial museum-house of Olga Mauylova. Author of the canvases is the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Jakov Pavlovich Hrapkovsky.

 

May 8, Friday

Personal exhibition of the painter, Aleksey Ivljev, is open in the memorial museum-house of Semen Chuykov, founder of the Kyrgyz School of Fine Arts. The exhibition will be held till May 16.

 

May 15, Friday

 

Opening of the 4th Kyrgyz International Tourist Fair BITF-2009 «Tourism and Traveling.” In the framework of the BITF-2009, the 3rd Osh International Tourist Fair “Osh City on the Great Silk Road – 2009” will take place. The Festival of handicrafts in Bishkek. The Fair will be held until May 19.

 

May 20, Wednesday

The first Kyrgyz International Automobile Exhibition «KIMS – 2009» will be held in Bishkek. The initiator of the exhibition is the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic. The exposition will take place until the 22nd of May.

 

May 22, Friday

Exhibition of Turkish goods “KYTIAD” will be opened in Bishkek in the National historic museum. “KYTIAD” is taking place under the support of “Kyrgyz expocenter,” Kyrgyz-Turkish community of entrepreneurs and Turkish Embassy. Exposition will be held until May 27.
